PBKS vs DC: David Warner bags first IPL golden duck after 9 years as Liam Livingstone gets Australia star

PBKS vs DC, IPL 2022: David Warner fell for a golden duck only for the third time in his IPL career. The Australian opener fell to part-timer Liam Livingstone in the first delivery of the match in Navi Mumbai.

Mayank Agarwal got it spot on in the first of Match 64 of IPL 2022 as Punjab Kings took on Delhi Capitals in a crunch contest at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Helping raise a few eyebrows, Mayank brought on part-time spinner Liam Livingstone into the attack as early as the first over against Delhi's new-look opening pair David Warner and Sarfaraz Khan.

The move worked well as Liam Livingstone got the big wicket of David Warner as early as the first delivery of the match. Livingstone bowled a harmless delivery that pitch on a good length and held a bit on the surface. Warner, who was drawn into the shot, got a leading edge that flew to the point fielder in Rahul Chahar.

PBKS vs DC, IPL 2022 Updates

It was David Warner's 9th duck in the IPL and only his 3rd golden duck in the T20 tournament. Warner had not gotten out for a first-ball duck since 2013. His last first-ball duck came exactly 9 years ago on the same date against the same franchise in Punjab Kings. Warner, who was playing for Delhi, got out to Sandeep Sharma while batting at No. 4.

The Australian opener has been one of the leading scores in the IPL over the years. Warner had a turbulent season with SunRisers Hyderabad last year but he has bounced back strongly on his return to Delhi Capitals. Warner has scored 427 runs in 11 matches including 5 fifties, highlighting why he is rated as one of the finest in IPL.

Delhi Capitals on Monday were able to recover from the early setback as Sarfaraz, who returned to the side after being dropped earlier, took the attack to the Punjab bowlers. Smashing a six and 2 boundaries against left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar, Sarfaraz hit 32 from just 16 balls before falling to Arshdeep Singh.

Mitchell Marsh also counter-attacked as he joined Lalit Yadav, who got an early life as he was dismissed off a no-ball by Arshdeep Singh. DC posted 59 for 2 in the powerplay, recovering well from the early blow.
