Since the Covid-19 pandemic struck India in March 2020, prices of daily items such as cereals, pulses, milk, edible oil and fuel – that comprise nearly 30 per cent of an average monthly budget in the country – have gone up.
While the Covid pandemic throttled the common man’s spending capabilities, high prices of essential items added to household crises. Prices of daily items such as cereals, pulses, milk, edible oil and fuel that comprise nearly 30 per cent of an average monthly budget in India shot up since March 2020. National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) data show cereals and cereal substitutes form 10.8 per cent of the rural household expenditure and 6.7 per cent of the urban household expenditure. Fuel and light, on the other hand, form 8 per cent of the rural household expenditure and 6.7 per cent of the urban household expenditure.More Related News
