Pak warship’s attempt to sneak into India thwarted by coast guard: Sources

A Pakistan Navy warship had attempted to sneak into India last month, but was stopped by the Indian Coast Guard, as per sources.

A Pakistan Navy warship had attempted to enter into Indian waters from Gujarat coast last month, top government sourced told India Today. The warship was soon detected and forced to retreat, the sources added.

Drama unfolded in high seas at the peak of monsoon season as Pakistan Navy warship Alamgir entered Indian waters during daytime and soon after it entered, it was picked up by a Dornier maritime surveillance aircraft through its radar, the sources revealed.

Soon after, the Coast Guard aircraft started hovering around the Pakistan Navy warship in the high seas.The Dornier aircraft informed its command centre about the presence of a Pakistani warship in Indian waters and continued to shadow the PNS Alamgir, the sources said. The aircraft asked the Pakistani warship about its intentions in Indian waters and why it was continuing towards Indian side, the sources said.

However, the captain of PNS Alamgir chose to remain silent and refused to respond. The Dornier then made very close passes over the front side of the warship in a sign of warning, the sources said.

After realising that its position was compromised and more Indian assets would be watching the area soon, the PNS Alamgir retreated towards its waters, the sources said.

As per sources, Pakistan may be trying to detect loopholes in the Indian response mechanism to any such intrusions and test the waters, but were surprised by the quick response of coast guard.
