P.E.I. could see snow in the west, freezing rain in the east Sunday night into Monday

There's more wintry weather set to sweep across Prince Edward Island over the next several hours. 

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Prince County and a freezing rain warning for Queens and Kings countries. 

The weather agency expects the conditions to begin Sunday night and last into Monday morning. 

In Prince County, snowfall of 15-20 centimetres is expected. 

"An area of low pressure will rapidly track across Nova Scotia tonight into tomorrow morning bringing heavy snow to western Prince Edward Island," the warning reads. "Gusty northerly winds will develop behind the low and combine with the freshly fallen snow to cause periods of reduced visibility in blowing snow during the day Monday."

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow, Environment Canada said. 

Meanwhile, as temperatures begin to plummet Sunday evening, central and eastern parts of the province could see between four and eight hours of freezing rain. 

"An intensifying weather system will push a rain/snow boundary across central Prince Edward Island later tonight and into tomorrow morning. There is strong likelihood of a persistent period of freezing rain near this boundary, with accumulating snow to the west of it and rain further to the east," the weather agency's warning reads.

The weather conditions may result in transportation delays across the province, and Environment Canada suggests Islanders adjust their driving to the road conditions.
