Commencing Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, 2025, in a swift and decisive military action against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Indian armed forces carried out 24 precision strikes on nine different targets. Describing the military operation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India exercised its “right to respond” to an attack on its soil, referring to the Pahalgam attack.
Since then, tensions have heightened with Pakistan choosing to escalate by targeting what India’s Ministry of Defence said “military stations at Jammu, Pathankot & Udhampur” with drones and missiles, which were “swiftly neutralised”. India launched its counterattacks “in the same domain and same intensity as Pakistan”, according to the Ministry. Meanwhile, the heavy shelling along the LoC by Pakistan which has resulted in fatalities and injuries.
