Baseball standout Babe Ruth, on this day in history, May 25, 1935, hit his 714th career home run — a record for career home runs that would stand for almost 40 years.
"Ruth went four for four on the day, hitting three home runs and driving in six runs." He stood more than six feet tall and weighed more than 200 pounds. In 1920, Ruth headed to the Bronx to join the New York Yankees. Ruth's final blast, which was also his last hit before he quit baseball for good, soared out of the ballpark.
