On This Day in 2002: When Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh scripted historic NatWest Series win
India Today
After an early collapse, Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh stitched a 121-run partnership for the sixth wicket in the final at Lord's. India chased down England's 326-run target.
It has been 20 years since the historic win, when Lord's witnessed one of the greatest ODI chases of all-time by India. Sourav Ganguly's men pulled off a remarkable win but not before a collapse!
India were chasing a mammoth target of 326 runs in the final of the NatWest Series on July 13 in 2002. As the senior members of India failed, the next generation stood up, which resulted in the iconic jersey waving moment by captain Ganguly.
India openers Virender Sehwag and Ganguly started off well, taking the team past the 100-run mark without any loss. But the dismissal of Ganguly trigged a collapse of the top-order. Alex Tudor cleaned up Ganguly for a well-made 60. Sehwag missed out on his fifty as Ashley Giles removed him for 45.

England then managed to see the back of Dinesh Mongia, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in quick succession. The dismissals of experienced campaigners made everyone think that India would lose. However, the incoming Yuvraj and Kaif had other plans.
