The gunman who killed one person and injured two more at Old Dominion University was previously convicted of attempting to help ISIS, according to a law enforcement official and court records.
The shooter at the Virginia college campus on March 12 was 36-year-old Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a law enforcement official told USA TODAY. Court records show Jalloh, a former member of the Army National Guard, pleaded guilty in 2016 to attempting to provide material support to ISIS.
Jalloh was sentenced in 2017 to 11 years behind bars.
