Michael Fanone, a former Washington, D.C., police officer who was attacked by a Trump-supporting mob in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, spoke volumes in a mere cough at a hearing on Thursday. (Watch the video below.)
Listening to Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) try to absolve President Donald Trump of responsibility for the riot, Fanone could not remain silent.
“I can tell you, gentlemen, that the fault does not lie with Donald Trump,” Nehls proclaimed to Fanone and other officers in the room. “It lies with ... the U.S. Capitol leadership team.”
“We know they had the intelligence,” Nehls continued.
In a now-viral clip, Fanone leaned over, covered his mouth and coughed loudly, “Fuck yourself.”
“I'm more convinced now that this is going to be open-ended and forever," Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said after a briefing on Iran on Tuesday.
