Odisha gears up for cyclone Yaas, officials on alert

After Cyclone Tauktae battered the states along the west coast, another cyclone is likely to make landfall on the Odisha-West Bengal coast around May 26 morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its forecast has said Cyclone Yaas is likely to hit the east coast on May 26-27. As per IMD, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around May 22. It is likely to intensify into depression around May 23 and a cyclonic storm by May 24. It is likely to move northwestwards and reach the Odisha-West Bengal coasts around May 26 morning".
