More than a dozen Long Island children were injured during a school field day in Wyandanch Park on Tuesday, when an inflatable slide tipped over, police said.
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 9:45 a.m. Police said that one child was taken to a hospital with a broken leg and others were taken to hospitals to be treated for "minor injuries."
Wyandanch School District Superintendent Dr. Gina Talbert addressed the situation in a statement, confirming that the slide deflated while students from Lafrancis Hardiman Elementary School were riding.
