The Democrat governor said that Indigenous people are "often depicted" in "harmful racial stereotypes" in artwork. She is a native of Massachusetts and is based in Orlando, Florida.
"Indigenous peoples, in particular, are often depicted in artworks in a manner that reflects harmful racial stereotypes and glorifies violence against Indigenous peoples," she wrote. "Such depictions do not reflect the values of New York State." Story tips and ideas can be sent to sarah.rumpf@fox.com and on X: @s_rumpfwhitten.
