'Not sedition': Rana couple to challenge Mumbai Police plea seeking cancellation of bail
India Today
MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana are going to challenge the Mumbai Police plea seeking cancellation of the bail order.
Advocate Rizwan Merchant, the lawyer representing MP Navneet Rana and her husband, MLA Ravi Rana, said they are going to oppose the application filed by Mumbai Police seeking cancellation of bail granted to Rana couple in the sedition case.
Mumbai Police had approached the court for cancellation of the bail order citing violation of release terms.
Advocate Rizwan Merchant said, "We are going to oppose the application. My clients as per bail conditions, have not spoken with regards to the ongoing case of reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree [CM Uddhav Thackeray's residence]. They have spoken as public representatives on issues of their constituents."

While granting bail, the court asked both the accused not to address the media regarding the Hanuman Chalisa recital case.
Despite this condition in the bail order, MP Navneet Rana spoke to the media after stepping out of the Lilawati Hospital. She said, "I challenge Uddhav Thackeray to contest elections from any constituency and I will contest against you and show you what woman power is."
While lashing out at Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, MP Navneet also said, "You got the designation because of your forefathers, but if you have guts, I challenge you to stand for election opposite me in any constituency and win, which you would not, since you don't know the power of women and I will show you."
