
Nominations of Kamal Haasan, DMK and AIADMK candidates from T.N. declared valid for Rajya Sabha election

Valid nomination papers for six candidates in Rajya Sabha biennial poll in Tamil Nadu declared by Returning Officer.
The Rajya Sabha biennial poll nomination papers of all six candidates — four backed by DMK and its allies and two backed by AIADMK and its allies — in Tamil Nadu were declared valid by B. Subramaniyam, Returning Officer and Additional Secretary in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat in Chennai on Tuesday (June 10, 2025).
During the scrutiny of nominations, the nomination papers of Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan, DMK sitting MP P. Wilson and party candidates Rajathi (better known as poet Salma) and S.R. Sivalingam; and AIADMK’s I.S. Inbadurai and M. Dhanapal were found to be in order. The nomination papers of seven others were declared invalid.
The last day for withdrawing nominations is June 12. If there are no withdrawals of candidates till 3 pm on that day, the six candidates would be declared winners.
