No party has clear majority in Chandigarh polls, so who could be new Mayor?
India Today
Additional Solicitor General of India Satya Pal Jain told India today the Municipal Corporation Act 1994 follows the proportional representation or the non-transferable vote method.
The recently concluded Chandigarh municipal corporation elections produced a fractured verdict as no one party managed to get a clear majority. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 14 of the 35 municipal corporation seats, the BJP 12 and the Congress eight seats, while the Shiromani Akali Dal got just one.
The question now is: who could be Chandigarh’s new Mayor?
