Hyderabad Cricket Association president Mohammad Azharuddin has revealed that the association had no part to play in the sale of tickets for India's third and final T20I against Australia. Azharduddin's clarification comes after at least seven people were injured in a stampede when ticket sales for the match began at the Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad.
The 59-year-old said he felt sad for what happened at the Gymkhana grounds and that the injured were being tended to.
"Yes we regret and feel sad about whatever happened at Gymkhana Grounds. The HCA is taking care of the injured," Azharuddin said.
The HCA chief also revealed that the duty of selling tickets for India's match against Australia was given to Paytm, and strict action would be taken if any irregularities were found.
"All the reports about irregularities in the sale of tickets for the match are baseless. If anyone proves that corruption has taken place in the sale of tickets, strict action will be taken," Azharuddin added.
Meanwhile, HCA secretary R. Vijayanand said that all measures were being taken by the association to prepare the stadium for the final T20I of the series.
"Due to Covid-19, the stadium couldn't be maintained properly. Now, we are taking all measures for spectators before Sunday's match," said Vijayanand.
