The California governor also mocked the president for having a “very bad night” on election night.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has hurled yet again sharp criticism at President Donald Trump after the Democrats’ recent election sweep.
While speaking at a rally in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, the governor mocked his political foe as an “invasive species” while declaring that Trump had a “very bad night” on Nov. 4.
“We’re dealing with an invasive species by the name of Donald Trump. He is a historic president, however … [a] historically unpopular president,” Newsom told the crowd.
“And he knows it. Why else? Why else did he make that call to your governor?” Newsom continued, appearing to reference his defamation lawsuit against Fox News, in which he alleged that the network falsely claimed he lied about a conversation he had with Trump.
“Why else did he feel the need to rig the election before even one vote was cast? That’s just weakness. Weakness masquerading as strength. That’s Donald Trump. And he had a very bad night on Tuesday,” Newsom added.
