Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) presents the brand new GR 86, its third global model in TGR's GR series of sports cars, is scheduled for launch in Japan later this year. Built alongside Subaru's new BRZ, the new Toyota GR 86 has a completely different driving experience while sharing the same platform as the former. The new GR 86 is designed for performance, and provides driving performance of the highest order, as well as providing a bold and imposing exterior coupled with a practical interior. Changes on the outside of the new Toyota GR 86 include fender tops that extend horizontally to the beltline, giving a distinctive stance to the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car. Its low, horizontal underbody and narrow cabin rear combine to create a broad, low-center-of-gravity appearance. The front features the GR-specific functional matrix grille which looks sober yet muscular. Inside, the operating system includes various switches and the horizontally-accented instrument panel is optimally located. The display features a 7-inch TFT screen, with an opening animation sequence inspired by the piston movements of the GR 86's horizontally opposed engine. Under the hood, is a larger 2.4-litre replacing the previous 2.0-litre unit that develops 235bhp and 250Nm of peak torque, coupled to either 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission that propels the GR 86 from 0-100kmph in 6.3 seconds.More Related News
