The new building of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) at Goshamahal here is proposed to be built at an estimated cost of ₹1,667 crore, with a projected completion timeline of 30 months, according to the tender notification issued by the Roads and Buildings Department.
According to the tender document, issued on June 9 inviting bids for the healthcare infrastructure project, the proposed development has been divided into civil works, water supply and sanitary installations and electro-mechanical works.
The bulk of the budget, ₹979 crore will go towards the construction of the main hospital block. Additional allocations include ₹103 crore for separate male and female hostel buildings, ₹72 crore for an academic block, ₹54 crore for utility structures, and ₹17 crore for a dharmashala. Infrastructure enhancements such as roads, pathways, and drainage are expected to cost ₹10 crore, while ₹8 crore is earmarked for covering existing nalas. The mortuary building is proposed to be built at a cost ₹5.99 crore, a compound wall ₹4.06 crore, and security rooms with gates ₹90 lakh.
Water supply and sanitary works are budgeted at ₹24 crore, while electro-mechanical components, including power, lifts, HVAC, and other systems account for ₹384 crore.
The main hospital structure will rise to 12 floors, including two basement levels for parking, covering a total built-up area of 23.42 lakh square feet. The male hostel will be a ground-plus-10-floor building, while the female hostel will have 12 floors above ground. The dharmashala will have a basement with ground plus nine floors above it, and the mortuary building will consist of a basement and ground floor. The nursing and physiotherapy college will be a basement with a ground-plus-eight-floor facility.
The tender also outlines a phased construction plan with four milestone deadlines at 9, 18, 24, and 30 months to ensure timely progress by the contractor awarded the project.
The foundation stone for the new building was laid by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the presence of Minister for Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha on January 31, this year.
