New Orleans chef goes from Marines to kitchen, shares love of chicken and dumplings
Fox News
A New Orleans chef didn't always cook for a living. He used to serve in the U.S. Marines. Now he's the author of a cookbook featuring the flavors of his hometown.
He's now an author, too, with a debut cookbook, "Modern Creole: A Taste of New Orleans Culture and Cuisine," published last fall. "It was a very paramilitary situation." "We didn't have recipes in the restaurants." Peter Burke is a lifestyle editor with Fox News Digital.
Growing up in southern Louisiana, Cook was surrounded by cooking, hunting and fishing.
