Nets tie franchise record with 45-point rout of Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Buck

A tanking Brooklyn team turned in a perfect performance.
The Nets rolled to the biggest blowout win in team history Sunday night, doing it with four first-round rookies on the floor, laughing their way to victory.
When it was over, Brooklyn had dominated Milwaukee 127-82 in a complete effort before 16,439 at Barclays Center.
Coach Jordi Fernández wasn’t among them, out with the flu as assistant Steve Hetzel was deputized. But an effort like this surely buoyed his spirits. Brooklyn led by 45 and held the Bucks scoreless for the final 7:04 in the best effort of the year.
“You hold any team to no points for six minutes, that’s elite,” said Noah Clowney, who had 16 points on 4-for-8 shooting from deep with two blocks. “This is the NBA. You don’t do that often to anybody.”
The 45-point margin tied a team record, as did the nine scorers in double-figures.

Edwin Diaz explained his decision to leave the Mets for the Dodgers. The closer headed west for a three-year, $69 million contract with the two-time defending World Series Champions over the same terms and $3 million fewer with the Mets — who reportedly “had some wiggle room” on their initial offer. But it wasn’t just about the money, the 31-year-old said in his first Los Angeles press conference on Friday.
