NASA to conduct second rocket test for Artemis moon missions

NASA will conduct its second Green Run hot fire test of the core stage for its Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.
Engineers will power up the core stage systems, load more than 700,000 gallons of cryogenic propellant into the tanks, and fire the SLS rocket's four RS-25 engines at the same time to simulate the launch and generate 1.6 million pounds of thrust. The 212-foot tall core stage -- installed in the renovated B-2 Test Stand -- gives the SLS rocket the tallest rocket stage the agency has ever built. It is made up of engines, a liquid hydrogen tank, a liquid oxygen tank and electronics, avionics and computers.More Related News
