Narada sting: Bail pleas of arrested Bengal leaders deferred as Calcutta HC closes in view of Cyclone Yaas
India Today
Cyclone Yaas has forced the Calcutta High Court to defer hearings on all cases, at least till May 27. Among these cases is the Narada sting case in which the CBI arrested three TMC leaders and the former mayor of Kolkata.
Bail pleas of three Trinamool Congress leaders, along with that of a former Kolkata Mayor arrested in the Narada sting case, stand deferred owing to Cyclone Yaas. The Calcutta High Court, which was slated to hear the bail pleas on May 26, has been closed till May 27 in light of the cyclonic storm developing over the east-central Bay of Bengal. In a notice on Monday, the registrar of the Calcutta HC said all matters listed on May 26 and May 27 will be taken up on the next available day. Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal had on May 21 placed the three accused TMC leaders, along with Sovan Chatterjee, under house arrest. This was after a bench headed by Justice Arijit Banerjee agreed to grant them interim bail.More Related News
