The Nagapattinam district administration hosted ‘Namma Nagai Namma Isai’ on Sunday evening on New Beach, an initiative by District Collector P. Akash to transform the beach into a cultural and tourist hub. The event featured a band competition and open performances, drawing enthusiastic participation.
The band competition, which required pre-registration, was open to groups of three to 10 members, with mandatory inclusion of instrumentalists and singers. Background music and karaoke were not allowed. The winners received cash prizes, with the first prize at ₹10,000, second at ₹7,500, and third at ₹5,000.
Alongside the competition, an open mic segment allowed more than 10 individual performers to take the stage through spot registrations. While this segment had no cash prizes, all participants received certificates.
Four bands competed in the contest and at the conclusion of the event, District Revenue Officer (DRO) R. Baby gave away the prizes.
