A UC San Diego Ph.D. student discovered rare purple Janthina sea snails washing up on the La Jolla beach, a phenomenon linked to warmer offshore waters not seen in San Diego since 2015.
Stajner identified the rare species of pelagic sea snail also known as Janthina.
