My hands are tied, our govt paying for UPA’s trickery: Nirmala Sitaraman on high fuel prices

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel is not in her hands at the moment. She blamed the previous UPA-led government for high fuel prices as well.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said there can be no solution to record high domestic fuel prices if the Centre and states do not come together to discuss the matter in detail. Nirmala Sitharaman said her “hands are tied” when it comes to providing relief in form of an excise duty cut on petrol and diesel. It may be noted that India levies the highest taxes in the world on petrol and diesel.
