Union Minister for Road, Transport, and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar reviewed the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) on Thursday.The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway covers Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, connecting the national capital with the country’s financial capital.Addressing the media in Sohna, Nitin Gadkari said, “Delhi-Katra expressway will be launched in two years. Once operational, you will reach Katra from Delhi in six hours. We are also working on new roads from Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Dehradun, and Delhi-Haridwar.”Speaking on the need for leaders to work for the country’s growth, he said, “Many years ago, my father-in-law’s house was demolished to make a road. I did not tell my wife before the demolition. That’s how it should be. Leaders should not be impediments in progress.”Throwing light on the project, he said, “Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is the world’s largest. The distance from Delhi to Mumbai will be covered in 11 hours through this Expressway. Helicopter ambulances will be available on the DME.”
