Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladesh batter to score 5,000 Test runs when he scored his 8th hundred to help Bangladesh edge ahead on Day 4 of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Chattogram.
Mushfiqur Rahim on Wednesday, May 18 became the first Bangladesh batter to get to 5,000 runs in Test cricket. The wicketkeeper-batter achieved the milestone on Day 4 of the first of 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka in Chattogram.
Mushfiqur Rahim celebrated the milestone by hitting his 8th Test hundred as Bangladesh dominated with the bat on Day 4. Mushfiqur got to the landmark ahead of Tamim Iqbal, who also scored a hundred in the Bangladesh first innings.

While Mushfiqur finished with 5037 runs, Tamim has 4981 runs after he scored 133 in the first innings, setting up a solid platform for Bangladesh to build on.
Tamim was well within reach to get to the 5,000-run mark but he retired hurt due to a muscle cramp before being bowled by Kasun Rajitha.
