Mumbaikars fined Rs 44 crore for not wearing masks during Covid-19 pandemic

The latest data suggested that since the beginning of the pandemic last year, BMC along with the Mumbai Police and railway authorities collected a total sum of Rs 44 crore as fines from those who have been found not wearing a mask in public places.
Citizens in Mumbai have paid Rs 44 crore as fines for not wearing masks during the Covid-19 pandemic. The fresh data has been shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at a time when Covid-19 cases are rapidly increasing in the city and in other parts of Maharashtra. The latest data suggested that since the beginning of the pandemic last year, BMC along with the Mumbai Police and railway authorities collected a total sum of Rs 44 crore as fines from those who have been found not wearing a mask in public places. The huge sum collected for not wearing masks indicates that people in the city are not abiding by Covid-19 rules despite repeated warnings from authorities. On March 20, the city’s agencies collected more than Rs 42 lakh as fines from citizens for not wearing masks.More Related News
