Afzal Ansari alleged that the don-turned-politician was denied food and water, and was given inhuman treatment when he was transferred to Banda jail from Punjab.
Mukhtar Ansari's brother Afzal Ansari has alleged that the don-turned-politician was denied food and water, and was given inhuman treatment when he was transferred to Uttar Pradesh's Banda jail from Punjab. Afzal Ansari, who is a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP from Ghazipur, was quoted by PTI as saying, "Inhuman treatment was meted to Mukhtar while being shifted from Punjab to Banda jail. In the over 15-hour journey, he was not given water and food and was also denied medical aid." He added, "Due to this, he became unwell and reached Banda jail in a semi-unconscious state." However, Afzal Ansari did not elaborate on how he came to know about the alleged treatment to Mukhtar Ansari, who was brought to UP's Banda jail in the early hours of Wednesday. He was brought in an ambulance amid tight security.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
