MP appeals Gadkari to develop spur roads for enhancing connectitity to Kukke Subrahmanya, Dharmasthala, Kolluru

MP Brijesh Chowta seeks Nitin Gadkari's help for constructing spur roads to enhance connectivity to temples.
Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in Delhi on Thursday and sought his intervention for facilitating the construction of two spur roads to enhance connectivity to Kukke Subrahmanya, Dharmasthala and Kollur.
In a letter submitted to the Minister on the occasion, Capt. Chowta said that Periyashanthi-Paichar Road connecting NH 75 and NH 275 and Guruvayanakere-Bajagoli Road linking NH 73 and NH 169 should be developed as spur roads.
The MP said that currently people from Bengaluru side visiting temple town Kukke Subrahmanya travel via Shiradi Ghat on NH 75 and those from Kerala arrive at the town by crossing NH 275. If Periyashanthi-Paichar Road is developed as spur road it provides enhanced connectivity to both Kukke Subrahmanya and Dharmasthala where temples have highest footfalls.
If Guruvayanakere-Bajagoli Road is upgraded as a spur road it provided better connectivity to both Kollur and Dharmasthala. Kolluru Mookambika Temple is also among the temples having highest number of visitors.
If the two roads are developed as spur roads it will help in boosting tourism activities and helped thousands of pilgrims visiting temples. It will also reduce traffic on other national highways in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.
Developing the two alternative roads will also help for the growth of economic activities in Mangaluru region in addition to enhancing connectitity to the renowned shrines in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, the MP said appealing the minister to do the needful.
Mr. Chowta said in a release that Mr. Gadkari responded positively to the appeal. The Minister instructed the officials concerned to examine the two proposals and study the pros and cons and then take suitable measures.
