The duo are suspected of trying to mislead the police by surrendering a fake weapon in an attempt to dilute the case.
Two former contestants of Kannada reality show Bigg Boss, who were arrested by Basaveshwara Nagar police for allegedly making a reel in a public space carrying a lethal weapon, are in more trouble for trying to mislead the police by surrendering a fake weapon in an attempt to dilute the case.
Police Sub-Inspector Bhanuprakash, social media monitoring cell, noticed Vinay Gowda and Rajath Kishan walking on the road carrying a machete to create an 18-second reel for social media.
Following his complaint, the duo was charged under the Arms Act and for committing a crime with common intention. They were arrested.
The police seized the weapon (machete), which the duo claimed was made of fibre. On the basis of this claim, the duo was released on station bail. However, on checking the video, police began to suspect that the weapon was made of metal and that the duo had misled them.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Chandan Kumar, who was supervising the investigation, said, “We will cross-check the weapon in the video with the one that was seized.”
City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda said that the police have sent the seized weapon to the FSL for analysis. Based on the FSL report, necessary action will be taken.
