Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey slammed attempts by Immigration and Customs Enforcement to portray Wednesday’s fatal ICE shooting as an act of self-defense, and demanded agents leave the city, dropping a few expletives along the way.
“They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly: That is bullshit,” Frey said at a hastily arranged news conference after the fatal shooting.
“This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying,” he added.
“I have a message for ICE,” Frey continued. “To ICE: Get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”
Frey went on to say, “They are not here to cause safety in this city. What they are doing is not to provide safety in America. What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust. They’re ripping families apart, they’re sowing chaos on our streets, and in this case, quite literally killing people.”
