Mike Tomlin doesn’t hold back on ‘junior varsity’ Steelers after Christmas dud vs. Chiefs
NY Post
Mike Tomlin is not happy.
His Steelers gave their fans a lump of coal on Christmas with a dud performance against the Chiefs at home in a 29-10 loss, Pittsburgh’s third straight defeat in 10 days.
While the three losses were all against strong competition, having previously lost to the Eagles and Ravens, the playoff-bound Steelers (10-6) lost all three by double digits and don’t seem ready to make a Super Bowl run.
“That sucked, to be blunt,” Tomlin said after Wednesday’s loss. “Not the type of ball we want to play and really kind of eerily similar to our last performance in that we’re not doing the fundamental things well enough.”
That wasn’t all.
“The bottom line is, this is junior varsity,” the coach added. “It’s not good enough. We got to own that.”
