Migraine nasal spray from Pfizer snags FDA approval for expected summer launch

The FDA has approved Pfizer's nasal spray to treat migraines in adults. The medication, called Zavzpret, is expected to be available via a doctor's prescription in July 2023.
Pfizer produces the medication, called Zavzpret. It works by blocking CGRPs, a protein that is released around the brain and triggers migraines. Migraines affect more than 17% of women and 5.6% of men in the U.S. Melissa Rudy is health editor and a member of the lifestyle team at Fox News Digital.
News of the FDA's approval came after two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies, Pfizer noted in a press release announcing the approval.
