MI will have 25 more supporters vs DC: Virat Kohli jokes as RCB's playoffs hopes rest on Rohit Sharma's men

IPL 2022: With RCB's hopes of reaching the playoffs relying heavily on Mi beatin DC on Saturday, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis joked that the two stars might turn up at the stands to support Rohit Sharma's men.

Mumbai Indians are one of the most-followed franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League and on Saturday, the 5-time champions are set to have a couple of thousand more supporters as they face Delhi Capitals in their final IPL 2022 game at the Wankhede Stadium. Among them will be the Royal Challengers Bangalore stars, including captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli.

RCB boosted their hopes of reaching the playoffs when they rode on a Virat Kohli special to outclass Gujarat Titans by 8 wickets. However, their fate is not in their hands as they face an anxious wait until after the Delhi Capitals game against Mumbai Indians to know their fate.

Delhi Capitals are on 14 points as they head into their final league game but the former finalists have a better Net Run Rate than RCB. A win against Mumbai will assure DC of the playoffs spot and RCB will be eliminated. They will have the poorest NRR in a 2-way or a 3-way tie at 16 points.

Speaking to captain Faf du Plessis after RCB's win over GT, Virat Kohli joked that the two of them might even be at the stands, cheering for Mumbai Indians when they take on DC at the iconic venue on Saturday.

"Trying to put our feet up and chill out for 2 days and support Mumbai. We have 2 more supporters for Mumbai, not just 2 but I think 25 more supporters," Kohli said in an interview for the IPL.

"You might see us in the stadium as well," he added while du Plessis already began the "Mumbai, Mumbai" chants.

Virat Kohli, who finally found form after a series of ordinary scores in IPL 2022, stitched the first 100-plus opening stand with captain du Plessis and the star batter said he is happy that the two have managed to strike a good chemistry as early as their first season together.
