ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Pete Alonso in one sense is living the life of a normal working stiff this weekend.
And he’s loving it. The Mets first baseman and Tampa native (he still resides in the area) awoke in his own house Friday and drove to work. It was an odd feeling for somebody used to the grind of professional baseball life, in which hotels and buses on the road are the norm.
