Massachusetts governor appoints new state dinosaur: 'spunky underdog'
Fox News
Republican Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker signed a law that names the Podokesaurus holyokensis as the new official state dinosaur.
The Podokesaurus holyokensis is now the official state dinosaur after receiving more than 60% of the 35,000 votes in a social media campaign last year to establish the position. Baker noted that he had a fondness for dinosaurs during his childhood.
"If I think about my own childhood ... the thing that got me interested in science in the first place was dinosaurs," said Baker. "And the main reason they got me interested is because of their majesty and their ferocity and their almost alien-being status. As a kid, they just created wonder."
