Utah Jazz basketball player Mark Eaton has died at the age of 64 after crashing his bicycle in Summit County, Utah, authorities said Saturday. The 7'4" center spent his entire 11-year NBA career with the Utah Jazz and retired as an NBA All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office said they received a call Friday around 8:30 p.m. from someone who said they'd found an unconscious man lying in the road. Authorities said he appeared to have crashed while riding a bicycle, and he was transported to a hospital where he passed away. "There were no witnesses to the bicycle crash, and there is no reason to believe a vehicle was involved in the incident," the sheriff's office said, adding that the medical examiner's office will determine his cause of death.
