"Legally carrying a firearm is not the same as brandishing a firearm. I support American’s 1st and 4th amendment rights. There is nothing wrong with legally peacefully protesting and videoing," she wrote.
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) addressed the circumstances surrounding the slaying of a Minneapolis ICU nurse by federal agents on Saturday, and asked supporters of President Donald Trump how they would feel if the political roles were reversed.
The Trump administration claims that Alex Pretti, 37, brandished a gun at a group of Border Patrol agents who fired “defensive shots” at him. Those claims conflict with video footage from the incident, which shows Pretti was holding his phone in his hands while wearing a holstered firearm when the armed and masked agents wrestled him to the ground, took his weapon and opened fire.
In a Sunday X post, Greene implored both Democrats and Republicans to take off their political blinders. She explained why supporting the deportation of what she called “criminal illegal aliens” shouldn’t mean having to compromise her belief in free speech and the right to bear arms.
“Legally carrying a firearm is not the same as brandishing a firearm,” Greene wrote. “I support American’s 1st and 4th amendment rights. There is nothing wrong with legally peacefully protesting and videoing.”
Green also urged members of the Make America Great Again movement to consider how they would react if one of their own was killed by government forces carrying out an operation initiated by President Joe Biden.
