Man held for sexually assaulting 12 women, used matrimonial sites to lure them

A 32-year-old mechanical engineer accused of sexually assaulting at least 12 women has been arrested by the Navi Mumbai police.

The Navi Mumbai Police has arrested a 32-year-old mechanical engineer accused of sexually assaulting at least 12 women. The accused, identified as Mahesh alias Karan Gupta, was arrested from Mumbai’s Malad area on Monday. The police had been looking for the accused for the last four months. The accused created several fake profiles on matrimonial websites to lure “highly educated women”, according to police officials. After getting in touch with women via such websites, he would contact them on their phones and fix a meeting at a pub, restaurant or mall.
