CBC
RCMP have laid charges against a driver involved in a fatal collision in Whitehorse last month.
The collision involving two minivans happened on Sept. 30 on the Alaska Highway between Azure Road and Kathleen Road, near the city's Crestview neighbourhood.
Police said the two vehicles — one of them a taxi — were driving in opposite directions on the highway when the collision happened.
64-year-old Ricky John, one of the drivers, was killed in the crash along with his dog.
The driver of the taxi — Amanpreet Brar — was injured along with a passenger in that vehicle. Both of them required hospitalization.
In a news release on Wednesday, RCMP said Brar, 23, has been charged with several driving offences, including crossing a double solid line, driving left of the centre line, and driving carelessly.
Brar is due in court on Nov. 18.
