A majority of American adults polled in a recent survey support banning colleges and universities from considering race during the admissions process.
When asked, "Would you support or oppose the Supreme Court banning colleges and universities from considering a student's race and ethnicity when making decisions about student admissions?" 63% of respondents said that they support banning the practice, and 36% said it should stay in place. More than 60% of White, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Hispanic respondents support banning the consideration of race in college admissions, while 47% of Black respondents say that colleges should be allowed to consider race during admissions.
