Madras HC orders Rs 75,000 aid for child whose thumb was cut off by nurse

The Madras HC has directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay Rs 75,000 compensation to the parents of a newborn who lost a portion of her left thumb after a nurse accidentally cut it off while removing a paediatric venflon (cannula).
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to pay an interim compensation of Rs 75,000 to the parents of the newborn baby whose left thumb was cut off accidentally by a staff nurse at a Thanjavur government hospital due to negligence. The single-judge bench of Justice N Anand Venkatesh was hearing a petition filed by M Ganesan of Vadavur, Thanjavur district, who had stated that on June 7, a staff nurse cut a portion of the left thumb of the infant when she was trying to remove a venflon from the child's left hand.More Related News
