The Madhya Pradesh Police registered an FIR against TMC MP Mahua Moitra over her remarks on Goddess Kaali.
Trouble mounted for Trinamool Congress Mahua Moitra as Madhya Pradesh Police registered a case against her over remarks on Goddess Kaali. Earlier, two complaints were lodged by the Bengal BJP against Mahua Mitra for "insulting" Goddess Kaali.
On Wednesday, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered by the crime branch in Bhopal under section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (outraging religious feelings).
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "Moitra's statement has hurt religious feelings of Hindus. We will not tolerate disrespect to any Hindu Gods and Goddesses at any cost."
WHAT DID MAHUA MOITRA SAY?
Controversy erupted over ‘Kaali’ movie poster that depicted Goddess Kaali smoking a cigarette.
Reacting to the controversy, TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday said, “Kaali to me is a meat-eating, alcohol-accepting goddess. You have the freedom to imagine your goddess. There are some places where whiskey is offered to the gods and in some other places it would be blasphemy.”
Mahua Moitra made the comment during a panel discussion at India Today Conclave East 2022.
