LSG vs KKR: KL Rahul lauds teammates for collective efforts after win over Kolkata - Couldn’t have asked for more

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 75 runs and moved to the top of the points table in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul reckoned that his team batted extremely well on a “tricky wicket” in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday. After being sent into bat, the Super Giants found themselves in immediate trouble as Shreyas Iyer caught Rahul short of the crease in the very first over. But from there on, LSG didn’t look back and, in the end, secured a 75-run win.

The Super Giants also found their way back to the top spot in the points table courtesy of a superior net run rate than Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans. Rahul, who bagged a duck at the MCA Stadium in Pune, praised Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder for helping GT post a formidable score of 176/7 on the board.

“Played really well, started well with the bat, except for the run out. It was a tricky wicket. Knew it was going to be slow and sticky. Had to get around 150-160. The way Quinton and Deepak batted made it look easy. Big hitting from Stoinis and Jason gave the momentum,” Rahul was quoted as saying after the match.

During KKR’s run-chase, Avesh Khan and Holder picked up three wickets apiece and never allowed the opposition to get a foothold back into the contest. Dushantha Chameera and Mohsin Khan got one scalp apiece, but gave away only 20 runs in six overs. Rahul praised LSG’s pace-bowling unit for maintaining the pressure on the opposition with regular wickets.

“We started superbly with the ball, put the ball in the right areas, and couldn’t have asked for more. Trust them a great deal (his pace battery). Having skills is one thing, but knowing what to do when is important. They've been put under pressure a couple of times but they've stuck to their strengths and been brave with the ball. That's all we can ask for,” he added.
