The school that adults have attended for years in London to upgrade their high school education is being sold with plans in place to move students to a school that restructured in recent years amid controversy.
The Thames Valley District School Board said Friday that G.A Wheable is shuttering programs for adults, putting the building on the market, and moving students to B. Davison Secondary School, starting in 2026.
B. Davison, which is currently being renovated, was an alternative high school offering technical and co-op courses for students with special education needs. In 2022, the TVDSB announced it would stop offering that programming and be converted into a traditional school for all students.
Parents, and alumni protested the decision, but the board moved ahead with its plans.
Renovation work started at B. Davison last spring.
TVDSB said there are currently 3,200 student enrolled at Wheable, most of them adults taking in-person courses. It has not said when the building will be put up for sale, or at what price.
