The 2021 London Remembrance Day Ceremony will take place by invitation on Thursday.
The annual event to honour our Veterans and their sacrifices will take place at the London Cenotaph at Victoria Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a moment of silence at 11 a.m.
Londoners are invited to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph until 8 p.m. Wednesday and between 8 and 10 a.m. Thursday. Wreaths can also be laid following the ceremony.
The City of London says spectators are discouraged from attending the ceremony due to health restrictions, but are being encouraged to stand outside their residence or place of work at 11 a.m. to observe two minutes of silence. The Remembrance Day Ceremony will be broadcast locally on Rogers TV and CTV London.
There will be no marching ahead of the ceremony again this year, as up to 100 guests will arrive to designated seating at the Cenotaph ahead of the event.
The traditional four-armed sentries will be posted at the Cenotaph, including Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Eight official wreaths will be laid during the ceremony.
Elsewhere in the city, Pipers of London Police Pipes and Drums will be playing in unison at key Veteran cemeteries across London, starting at 10:55 a.m.
This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the Poppy as Canada's symbol of Remembrance.
Intelligence regarding foreign interference sometimes didn't make it to the prime minister's desk in 2021 because Canada's spy agency and the prime minister's national security adviser didn't always see eye to eye on the nature of the threat, according to a recent report from one of Canada's intelligence watchdogs.
