Live Updates: Democrats stave off "red wave" in midterm elections as vote count continues
CBSN
Washington — Democrats appear to have staved off a Republican "red wave" as the dust settles from Tuesday's midterm elections, picking up a Senate seat in the key state of Pennsylvania while control of Congress remains unresolved.
Early Wednesday morning, CBS News projected that Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman defeated Republican Mehmet Oz in the state's Senate race, the most expensive and closely watched in the country. Fetterman will replace GOP Sen. Pat Toomey in the Senate, which currently has 50 Democrats and 50 Republicans.
Several Senate races remained up in the air later Wednesday morning. Georgia's contest between Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker remained a toss-up in CBS News' estimates. Neither candidate currently has more than 50% of the vote, which is needed to avoid a run-off under state law. Georgia's elections officer said early Tuesday that he expects the race to go to a run-off.

A jury on Wednesday found that Meta and YouTube are liable for creating products that led to harmful and addictive behavior by young users, a landmark decision that could set a legal precedent for similar allegations brought against social media companies.
