Law of land supreme, Twitter must follow rule: IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has asked Twitter to comply by the Centre's new IT rules as the "law of the land is supreme". Vaishnaw assumed the role of IT Minister on Thursday, a day after his induction into the Union Cabinet.

On his very first day in the Union Cabinet, Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday shot off a warning to social media giant Twitter, asking to it follow the rules as the "law of land supreme". The warning comes amid the Centre and Twitter are engaged in a tussle over the new IT rules, especially on the point that the social media giant has not been able to appoint a grievance redressal officer yet.
